wyoming licensing requirements

Required Hours:
Cosmetology - 2000 Hours
Nail Technology - 400 Hours
Esthetics - 600 Hours

Reciprocity: If you can meet all the following you may acquire a Wyoming license by endorsement or reciprocity. If you do not meet all of the following, you will have to take our written and practical examination.

  1. You must have graduated from a state recognized school and taken a board administered written and practical examination. (Wyoming does not recognize apprenticeship or grandfathered licenses)
  2. If you have less than our required hours, (2000 for Cosmetologist, 1250 for Hairstylists, 600 for Esthetician, and 400 for Manicurist/Nail Technician), you will need to prove at least one (1) year working history in your field or you will be required to examine.
  3. Prove that you are legally in the United States.

Applications are not available online. To request an application, candidates must senda money order for $7.50 and request an "Endorsement Pak" or an "Examination Pak" to the Board office. If you are not sure which one you qualify for, please contact the office for clarification.

Renewal: The first year you obtain a Wyoming license, it is issued for one (1) year from the original month of acquisition. After that you are set up on a 2 year renewal during your birth month. License fees are currently $72.00 for 2 years, effective January, 2008 ($3.00 per month).
