hawaii licensing requirements

Licenses Available: Cosmetologist, Barber, Esthetician, Nail Technician,

Required Hours:
Cosmetology - 1800 Hours ( 3600 in apprenticeship )
Esthetics - 550 Hours ( 1100 in apprenticeship )
Nail Technician - 350 Hours
Barber - 1500 Hours

Minimum Requirements: High School education or equivalent, and be at least 16 years of age. (17 years of age for Barber.)

Reciprocity: Granted to all with a current license from a State with equal or greater requirements.
Work experience is a consideration if you have less schooling than required. All applicants are required to take the written exam.

The license will only be recognized for the hours of training that are recognized in the jurisdiction that issued the license. If the jurisdiction's training hours are less than the number required for Hawaii, then you must make up the difference with school training, or apprentice hours, or proper evidence of ONE YEAR of licensed experience with the out-of-state license.
