Licenses Available: Cosmetology, Esthiology and Nail Technology
Required Hours:
Cosmetology: 1500 hours (or 3000 apprentice)
Esthetics: 1500 hours (or 3000 apprentice)
Nail Technician: 750 hours (or 1200 apprentice)
Minimum Requirements: You must be at least 16 years of age, with at least a 10th grade education.
Reciprocity: Will be granted without examination if requirements of state of licensure are substantially similar to Alabama, including 5 years of practice in profession immediately preceding application.
If I am licensed in another state, how do I transfer that license to Alabama?
You must show proof of licensure in your current state and pay a fee of $ 100. If you have been licensed for at least five years or have passed a board approved practical and written exam, no exams are required. If you have been licensed less than five years or have not passed a board approved exam, you may be required to pass both a practical and written exam.
