All 4 Institute teams will come together to participate in the photo shoot.
COMPETITION RULES
- Cosmetology students may compete in categories 1, 2 or 3.
- Esthiology students may compete in category 3 only.
- Students will be judged on individual skills.
- A student cannot participate in more than one category and is only eligible during one of their enrollment years. Students will be judged on the following:
- Creativity • Artistry • Difficulty • Presentation
- Sanitation • Product Recommendation
- No wigs, hair pieces, extensions or wefts may be used.
- Awards are not transferable, assignable or redeemable for cash.
- Aveda reserves the right to use the winners’ name and photographic images for publicity purposes as seen fit.
- All work is submitted in good faith. Instant disqualification will apply to any entrant abusing this rule.
- Photographic material submitted for this award cannot and will not be returned to the entrants.
- It is the responsibility of the entrants to ensure that a model release form is singed and sent with the entry forms. Note: entries submitted without a model release form completed will be disqualified.
- Each entrant may submit one entry only.
- Entries must be received no later than July 1, 2009. The deadline for entry is final. No entries will be accepted after the stated date.
- Aveda hair color, styling and finishing products and makeup must be used exclusively.
- The judges’ decisions are final.
- No photo may be electronically altered. Photoshop photos will be disqualified.

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009East Lansing Institute
Jason Nash will work with each Institute Finalist team on the following:
- Competition submission guidelines and rules
- Story boarding
- Head sheets
- Technical information sheets & descriptions
- Essay questions
- Model selection
- Model preparation prior to photo shoot
- Before & after photos
Team entry information packets are due to Jason the day of the photo shoot.
- Jason will orchestrate photo shoot, and support institute teams in model selection, photo shoot, and final photograph selection and submission information.
- Photo shoot will be performed @ the EL Institute; time to be determined. Agenda for that day will be presented to the finalist teams.
- Head shots only will be taken, no full body images. Photographer will provide 2 options for back drops to be chosen by team for photo.
- Douglas J will incur all costs of photo shoot, photo prints and supply each finalist team with 1- 8 x 10 copy of their team image for their portfolio.
