SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE AT ANN ARBOR CAMPUS
Academic Achievement Scholarship
This program is valid only for students enrolling in the Cosmetology classes beginning on March 29 or March 30 at the Ann Arbor Campus.
If a student achieves a 95% academic average or higher in an academic unit, he or she will earn $500 in tuition credit at the end of that unit from Douglas J Aveda Institute. Students can earn up to $2,000.00 total in tuition credit throughout their program, which breaks down to $500.00 per each academic unit.
At the end of each of the four units, students will be evaluated academically by their educator(s). Grades are calculated on a percentage resulting in an average of test scores, practical work, homework and a final exam. Students who meet the 95% benchmark at the end of a unit will receive a $500.00 credit on their account with Douglas J.
The following limitations and exclusions apply to this program:
- A student must complete their cosmetology program by their contracted end date in order to remain eligible for the tuition credit.
- Students who take a leave of absence, or withdraw and subsequently reenroll will be disqualified.
- If a student falls below the 95% benchmark at the end of the unit, they will not qualify for the tuition credit for that unit.
- If a student falls below the Satisfactory Academic Progress benchmark of 80%, he or she will be ineligible from receiving the tuition credit for the remainder of their program.
This scholarship benchmark is separate and not related to the academic requirements set forth in the Satisfactory Academic Policy (SAP). For more information on the SAP, please refer to the Academic Catalog.
Receiving a tuition credit does not mean that a student will necessarily receive a refund.
EXTERNAL scholarship opportunities
As a student at the Douglas J Aveda Institute, there is a vast array of scholarship opportunities you may be eligible for and apply to. Most scholarships require that you are a current student and have completed a certain amount of hours prior to applying; however, Douglas J occassionally holds scholarship competitions to students who do not have any formal training in the salon and spa industry.
