admissions at douglas j aveda institute
Since 1986, Douglas J has been offering specialized training for careers in the Salon/Spa industry. In 1995, co-owners Scott and TJ Weaver pushed the boundaries of traditional cosmetology schooling by becoming an Aveda Institute. The Douglas J Aveda Institute education focuses on an integrative, learner-centered approach to training. The programs teach students the technical skills they will need as a stylist, as well as the business building techniques they will need to develop as a professional.
Education at Douglas J makes for a smooth transition from the school to the workplace for students. Douglas J's educational environment provides extraordinary hands-on experience, allowing students to encounter the fast-paced environment of a salon. The institutes emulate a true salon setting, servicing an average of 350 clients per day. In addition, students are taught by a team of salon industry professionals who remain at the forefront of salon education by participating in continuing advanced education classes required by the Institute. This comprehenensive learner-focused education ensures that the School is providing the salon industry with well-rounded, educated professionals.
The Douglas J Aveda Institute East Lansing was awarded Aveda Institute of the Year in 2002. The Institute has grown from one location to four of the nearly 50 Aveda Institutes in the United States, graduating over 300 students collectively each year in Cosmetology and Esthiology. The East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Royal Oak Institues are accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences.
